ch = chain
sc = single crochet
19 rows and 19 stitches = 4” square (before felting)
Yarn Choice: I highly recommend using the yarn listed in the required materials section; however, if you decide to use a different yarn, it must be at least 75% animal fiber (wool, alpaca, etc) and not super-wash or your pillow will not felt properly.
Ch 56 (keep an even tension)
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in every ch to the end of the row. Turn
Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch). 1 sc in each sc to the end of the row. Turn.
Repeat row 2 until piece measures 24 inches (approx. 120 rows).
Lay the piece on a flat surface and fold it in half so the foundation row and last row line up. Cut a piece of yarn about 80 inches long. Attach the piece of yarn to one of the bottom corners of the piece with a slip knot. Using a yarn needle sew up the edge of the pillow to close the sides; repeat on the other side. Make sure your rows are lined up evenly and you are pulling your stitches tight so the sides are securely closed.
Stuff the pillow with fiber fill until it is as full as you want it (I used about half the bag/4oz).
Cut a piece of yarn about 80 inches long and attach it with a slip knot to one of the top corners of the pillow. Using a yarn needle sew up the top of the pillow to close.
Finish and weave in all ends.
