Wrap yourself up in this soft squishy crochet blanket. This is an easy pattern, perfect for those who want to practice the hdc rib, which gives the blanket somewhat of a knit look. This makes a great winter project!
Width = 30 inches
Length = 54 inches
ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
st(s) = stitch(es)
Working in loop under stitch:
Traditionally, to create a crochet stitch, you would insert your crochet hook under the v made by the stitch in the previous row. To make this blanket, you will create stitches by inserting your hook into the loop located under the v made by the stitch in the previous row; this pushes the v back creating the ribbed texture seen in this blanket. Other than where you insert your hook, the half double crochet stitches are worked exactly the same as traditional half double crochet stitches. See the photos below for visual aid.
Ch 124 (keep an even tension)
Row 1: Work 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, work 1 hdc in each ch to end, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1st hdc) work 1 hdc in loop under 1st hdc st, *work 1 hdc in loop under next hdc st, repeat from * to end, turn.
Repeat row 2 until piece measures 30 inches.
Weave in and trim all ends.
